Midnight Visitor

January 16, 2016

Last night my “mom alarm” sounded in the middle of the night. From a dead sleep, I was suddenly woken by the sensation that something in my environment was different. The first sense to kick in was my hearing. Before my auditory scan finished, my olfactory test returned negative – no smoke – soon followed by confirmation of no unusual sounds. This process was completed within the fraction of a second it took to open my eyes and find a giant Wolfhound nose just inches from my face. When Stan saw my eyes open, his tail came to life like a Water Wiggle. I smiled. He gave me a big ol’ slurp of a kiss. I tousled his floof and told him I loved him. He flopped down on his bed and went back to sleep.
