Ru done wrong

May 4, 2012

Today I was outside with the pooches enjoying the weather. Ru was running about gleefully (if you have ever wondered what “glee” looks like, watch a Wolfhound run), celebrating each breath and every bounce. Sue ran towards me. Ru followed on her heels. Sue stopped. Rupert didn’t. He effectively flattened her. I imagine a 190 lb. Wolfhound at full gallop felt like being hit by a freight train. Sue yelped, and Ru knew he’d done wrong and high-tailed it in the opposite direction. Before I could comprehend what had happened, Sue was back on her feet and tearing after Ru with a determination I’d never seen before. I’m not sure who was more surprised, Ru or me, but it turns out a little vengeful bitch is faster than a Wolfhound. Sue leapt skyward and snarled Ru’s scruff (no harm done; she just gave him “what for”). Ru ran for the house with Sue in pursuit. By the time they made it to the door, they were playing.
